Favorite phrase in this post:
"...or you sit your ass down and write something."

So true. Sometimes I need glue on my chair.

I liked your tips on daily writings, thanks for that. I just started my daily writing practice. I have some additional things to say that when you go write everyday, if the time is fixed for your writing quota for the day, it would help immensely.
To tell about my writing, I've just started my writing practice. I have kept my writings limited to what I do everyday, what are my goals, my goals in all the area, be it physical or mental, spiritual or material.

I look at where everyday I was headed, what I should have done, and what I did. And trying to improve on those matters next day.

thanks

[...] Stick with it. Many people struggle with getting started with writing. Even if it's an uphill battle, stick with it and you'll eventually see results. [...]

Zaelyna, sometimes I still catch myself thinking the same thing..."A real writer wouldn't skip a day of writing." I'm finally learning how to recognize that train of thought right away and cut it off before it gets even worse, but it's an ongoing effort. :)

Eeleen, you're right. As long as you write something and devote some time each day to your work-in-progress, it doesn't matter if you write 100 words or 1,000 words. Every little bit counts. I'm happy if I finish one or two good pages per day (which amounts to 250-500 words in double-spaced manuscript format), and I'm ecstatic if I break 1,000 words per day.

Life happens, so 1000 words a day is not really feasible or realistic. As long as you write something and see your WIP taking shape

Self-forgiveness is an important thing to keep in mind. Every time I fail to meet my daily writing goals (usually by not writing at all), I'm overwhelmed with guilt. A *true* writer, I tell myself, doesn't let the "everything else" take priority. A *true* writer gets her job done regardless of the chaos life tosses at her.

But it's not realistic. Life is chaotic and sometimes we really can't meet that quota. Forgiveness and taking it easy are crucial to a writer's survival because without both, if/when a product comes into existence, it won't be nearly as good as it would be if said writer created it under healthier circumstances.

Thanks for the reminder :)

p.s. I LOVE the pen/needle image at the top of your site. ^_^
